Bacon Jam Burger Picnic at IFBC

After Penny’s inspiring presentation, she encouraged us to go hunting with our camera at lunch.  We were also assigned a 250 word or less blog post about lunch by Kathleen.  I wasn’t planning to do it, until I was utterly blown away by my awesome meal.  Here’s my post: Read more

Kathleen Flinn Writing Exercise IFBC 2010

I love Kathleen Flinn, I finally introduced myself to her because I was too chicken at last year’s IFBC.  I’ve mentioned how much I love her book “The Sharper Your Knife the Less you Cry” and she’s just as enjoyable as a speaker as she is as a writer.  Even better, she’s working to create social change by empowering low income families to cook and eat healthy.  Sound familiar?  I’m really looking forward to talking to her in the near future about the work she’s doing. Morgan Spurlock at International Food Bloggers Conference 2010

It’s that time of year again! This weekend is the second International Food Blogger’s Conference here in Seattle. IFBC is put on by Foodista.   When I attended last year’s IFBC I was relatively new to food blogging, and just figuring out that I was making a difference through my blog. It was my first time meeting some of my food blogging heroes like Jaden and Elise, and I can’t even count the number of great things that came out of the IFBC experience both personally and professionally. My Latest Kitchen Gadget

I knew that egg poachers were going to be the Foodbuzz Special today, and thought (somewhat enviously) of what wonderful dishes I could make if I could have perfect poached eggs every time.  Then, at a garage sale on our street, I was so excited to find this brand new $40 egg poacher set for only $1!!!  I know!!  They were getting rid of it because they never used it.  Personally I’m tired of only sometimes succeeding in poaching my eggs in swirling water and was thrilled at how easy this was to use.

I can’t get you a deal quite as good as mine, but if you desperately need one for yourself, there’s an egg poacher set on Amazon for only $18 with several good reviews.  Come back tomorrow to find out the first poached egg dish I made!

Oil and Vinegar Potato Salad and a New Addition to Our Family

I made this delicious and healthy potato salad with our grilled porterhouse steak a couple weeks ago.  We LOVE my lemony dill potato salad, but it may now be a toss up between the two.  This oil and vinegar potato salad has just a touch of cream and NO MAYONNAISE!  It’s even good without the cream if you’re lactose intolerant like my grandma, she loves the dairy free option.

Now onto important things, like the fact that our family is growing!  Check out the video below of our first day with our newest family member. Read more
