We’ve been so busy that though I’ve created lots of wintry recipes and taken lots of photos, I just haven’t had time to put a post together. Especially with all the prep for our local ingredient Christmas party. On Christmas day Eric and I went snowshoeing in the first snow of the season as our present to each other. It was an epic day and I’ll have a video for you later which includes our car precariously sliding towards a cliff as we slid for a mile down the mountain without any traction!
Finally, the long awaited day 3 recap of the Foodbuzz Food Blogger Festival in San Francisco. I had been waiting until I finished the video to post it and then got overwhelmed with the holidays and forgot about it. Here you go!

We had brunch at Restaurant Lulu, an excellent spread using Nature’s Pride bread in a lot of the dishes. The bacon was the most popular, and Jaden used hers to create a new signature cocktail, The Bacon Bloody Mary!
Congratulations to Liz!
If you need a gingerbread or frosting recipe, check out my post on our winning gingerbread chapel last year.

We have an annual tradition with Eric’s family, a gingerbread contest, and we’re hard core! You voted for your favorites, and the winner is….drum roll please!

For this month’s 24, 24, 24 event I proposed preparing food for a big party using ingredients that were locally produced, grown, and made. Some ingredients I used were ones that I canned or froze over the summer months. But most of the ingredients were ones that I bought this week, and in season. It was a lot of fun talking with farmers and vendors about what’s in season during the cold month of December, and what’s available locally. Eric and I were getting pretty excited about being locavores, and are considering trying a month of only eating local because of the bounty of local food in Washington. Here’s a video of the local producers and the party.

If you didn’t win, don’t worry. I make Jaden’s recipes all the time and will be sharing them with you. Oh, and plan on more giveaways in the future!
